BagBunch.com has recently posted a very popular and controversial argument against celebrities appearing charitable yet lavishing themselves with luxury purses. Read the article to learn a thing or two, if nothing else. But what are the ethical answers to my two questions: #1 Does a good person not deserve the best of what they love if it barely adds up to their total income? #2 Do you consider celebrities receiving free gifts so they in turn advertise the merchandise?

Though I agree that these facts are a bit shocking, but we have to consider the reason celebrities became celebrities — clearly not for their generosity or good-will. We love celebrities because they are often offered the best of the best and thus serve as a model of what we \’want\’ or are supposed to want. The more they are seen holding the \’it\’ bag, the more press they\’ll get.

Wow! Those images are powerful. Definitely gave me something to think about. Although I’m not a celebrity, I do know that I become more socially conscious as I become more professionally successful.

and how many people can person x help if they only decide to make their coffee instead of buying it at starbucks?
how much can person y have given to charity if he/she only didn\’t buy those extra pairs of shoes since only ONE is really necessary?
It\’s all the same. Plus, in the end, the celebrities give more than the rest of us. We can all give a little bit more.
Also, the article tells celebrities to buy fakes instead of the real bags. Ok…how many people are harmed through fake bags? I had read an article talking about how the selling of fake bags had paid for the expenses necessary for terrorism. and how about sweatshops?
