Moo Roo Bridgette Clutch

November 10, 2005 by Mallory Road

With the holidays rapidly approaching, you’re sure to need a new handbag or two for all of the upcoming social gatherings. So, as a service to you, each week from now until the week of Christmas, I will highlight one or two handbags that are special enough to hold their own against holiday fashions. (I know, it’s a tough job, but I am so glad to do it!) Instead of the 12 Days of Christmas, it will be kind of like the 12 Handbags of Christmas! (C’mon—you’ve got to admit that’s a cute idea!) They will, of course, be in no particular order.

Moo Roo Bridgette Clutch The first bag to be in the spotlight is the Moo Roo Bridgette Clutch. It might not be the first handbag you’d consider for the holidays—it has a more demure approach, instead of being bombarded with beads and sequins. Made of luscious black satin with hand-loomed black Swiss lace, it can be carried as a clutch or used with a shoulder strap or handle. Measuring 5.5″ x 10″ x 3″, I instantly see this bag against a red satin dress, a green chiffon camisole or a sophisticated white sweater. You’ll never have to worry about this bag going out of style or being too trendy. After the holidays, pull it out and wear it with jeans for a chic look. Since the Moo Roo line is considered a luxury brand, the price tag for this bag is $700, but don’t worry, not all of the highlighted holiday bags will be so high in price.

[...] Okay, give me a drumroll and start to get really, really excited. The number 12 and final handbag in the “12 Handbags of Christmas” is … the Crystal Clutch by Larisa Barrera! Breathtaking—isn’t it? Words simply cannot do this purse justice—it’s gorgeous! Metallic silver snakeskin, faceted crystal accents, beaded shoulder strap and trim; all eyes will certainly be on the lucky lady who walks through any holiday party with this on her arm. [...]

[...] The royal purple color of the Coco clutch by Lorelei naturally drew me in and I had to choose it as my seventh choice for the “12 Handbags of Christmas.” Plus, I loved that the color was “royal purple” instead of just “purple.” As you know, purple has always been associated with royalty and I’ve always had a bit of an interest in that. I even wrote Princess Diana a letter when I was younger and I’m not one to write fan letters, but oh well, that’s another story. [...]

[...] Santa Claus probably already has a gift for Mrs. Claus, but if he doesn’t, I believe I have found the perfect present. Red, of course, is Mrs. Claus’s favorite color so the Charlotte Clutch by Lauren Merkin, number 11 in the “12 Handbags of Christmas,” would certainly be something Mrs. Claus would love to unwrap Christmas morning. Oh, I’d love to unwrap it any morning! [...]
